    How well did it travel?

    Boxes are used for transport (at least — that’s their original use). Transport has its environmental impact, as you are probably aware. A good box should make the transport space and energy efficient. Eg. Models lightweight cardboard allows producers to pack more in smaller spaces and adds little to none freight weight. These marginal gains add up.

    Do you know who made your box?

    Do you know who made your box? How did they make it? This information does not need to be printed on the packaging itself, but what about the producers website? Do you know anything about the certificates and materials used? Can you find out? There is such a thing as a good box. We literally make millions of them everyday at Model. And we can tell you about each and every one of them.

    Is it made from trees?

    Trees make up a very small percentage of any cardboard box. Most boxes are made from other, older boxes. At Model we take pride in our closed paper cycle principle, realizing the value of recycling recovered paper. Over 80% of our packaging comprises recycled material. If needed, virgin fiber is sourced from Europe or the US. All our factories can utilize 100% FSC-certified fiber for our products.
